Barry Meguiar 00:03
Carl, it’s always fun hanging out with you, brother. It really is. You always have all these stories. You have more energy than anybody I know. And always, always, always focus on the individual, the people that are around you, where they’re they’re standing with God.

Speaker 1 00:17
I think you don’t know where people are. We had this one. This is, to me, an interesting story, but we were sitting, I was fine with Jennifer. We’re going for some meeting. I don’t remember, but we’re sitting on this smaller plane, and on the way there, I’m sitting next to guy, and, you know, we used to have a friendly conversation. It’s just, you know what we’re doing. And you always get into a little bit on the Lord. And he’s, he’s telling me, you know, he’s sitting with a friend, and he kind of got into a little bit of a holiness group, but he, he’s like, we’re going back to Barry, some issues in his life that, you know, he concerned the Lord. He didn’t feel worthy to be saved anymore. I mean, he unloaded on the most crazy thing.

Barry Meguiar 00:59
Why do you think he did that? I mean, I think that that’s what religion is doing to people.

Barry Meguiar 01:04
Why did he feel safer doing that with you?

Speaker 1 01:08
I mean, we just loved on him. We talked about a little bit what we’re doing. It was just a friendly conversation. But for some reason, in fact, he had his friend, I think, tried to talk him out of it, talking to me. I’m sorry but he’s not going around, telling that with everybody, okay, but he talked to you, and you touched on lightly, but I don’t want to go past it too fast. He sensed your love. He sensed that you cared for him. He sensed there was something you somehow, you connect with him in a way that other people have not been connected with him.

Speaker 1 01:39
In fact, it maybe was a couple of questions that I think we miss in most interaction with most people. ‘Cause God obviously have created all in his image and sees value in him. And a lot of times we, I think we see past God’s greatness in whatever that person is. They might not live in, but it’s still there, right? So that. So the big question often, I think, is, for me, how is Jesus seeing this person? What potential is he seeing in him?

Barry Meguiar 02:05
Exactly, exactly. Or this lady or this person? How does God see this person? Knowing that God loves this person as much He loves you. Absolutely. As much as anybody he loves this person. I don’t see him as wholesome. I don’t see him as loving, but God loves you. Sees a destiny, purposes. Exactly. God sees all that. And when we tap into that point, big point, Carl. It’s a big point. He sees people, you gotta get past the appearance. Yeah. Because a whole lot of people are not what they appear to be. That’s a screen.

Speaker 1 02:36
Then you have all this religious system. So I asked him a couple of questions, because it was all kind of defeated, right? Yeah. There’s just guy and he had talked about his whole background. He had been rock and roll, he had all kinds of things. So he’s going back to Phoenix on this plane, and he was going back to do some bearing of whatever he thought was bad in his life. I’m like, Yeah, but he told me his testimony. I got him to kind of share what happened. So he’s telling me this story. He was wasted, drunk, high. And he walked by into this church. In fact, he was sitting with someone in the bar, I think. And in this bar he someone challenged him and says, if you just go with me. He said, I’m not worthy. If you just go with me, I guarantee you that Jesus will save you. So he goes in to this church. He follows this guy from this bar. He says both high and drunk and get radically saved, right? This happened earlier. This happened earlier in his life. So then he ends up being cleaned up. He comes out of kind of bad lifestyle. Marries this beautiful lady, I think, in a kind of church setting and getting kind of religious holiness, kind of settings that turns him into life where nothing you do anymore is good enough. So now, 15 years later, whatever that is, 13 years later, he’s going to bury someone’s past life. So I’m talking to him and, and I’m so I’m asking, well, why would Jesus see your worthy then, but not now?

Barry Meguiar 03:55
So he was, so he had been close to God. Yes. But he’s now, he’s not close to God, and he’s feeling unworthy now. And you’re saying, why? is it God doesn’t change?

Speaker 1 04:08
In fact, he’s so unworthy then, right? He saw some incredible potential. And now you come to place where totally disqualify everything you are. So you think he now, he doesn’t. Now, when you’re much better, you’re married, you have kids, you’re doing great. It’s the gospel of grace. So when we share faith, in fact, even he become embarrassingly like, well, you know, he started crying and, you know, want me to pray with. So become embarrassing for Jennifer, I remember a little bit, but it’s the beautiful, beautiful moment where I think this is part of the problem when we speak to people, if you just love people and try to see the potential that Jesus sees in people, and not add a bunch of things that disqualifies people. I think the gospel is so attractive if we can just get out of the way and share how incredible God’s grace is.

Barry Meguiar 04:57
Good news. It’s the love of God. That’s right. Right? Why are we so relative to say, relative to say, God loves you, so we see everything differently, right? Yeah. I mean, the World, the Christmas Christians see it with all this confusion and in fact, it’s just so simple. It is. It is the love of God, for the love of Jesus. Yeah, no, it’s an amazing. Well, you do that so well, Carl. Thank you. You really do. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you to get to grab a moment with you here, right, correct. You’re. Absolutely my privilege. Special time with you. Thank you so much.
