Statistics tell us that one of the main reasons Christians are afraid to share their faith is that they might be asked a question they can’t answer. And what an indictment that is on the church. I think that Christians can be in a church I’m sitting under good teaching for decades and still be afraid, to be uncomfortable with the fact they might be asked a question they can’t understand. I mean, how is that possible? I was thinking about this yesterday, and I Googled, can you understand something you can’t explain? Do it yourself. It’s amazing. The answer is, no, you cannot. If you can’t explain it, you don’t understand in fact, Einstein is quoted as saying, If you can’t explain it to a six-year-old child, you don’t understand it. Unfortunately, we have a lot of Christians that have this discomfort level, and when you are uncomfortable with it’s because you don’t know it well enough to share it, and that’s one of the biggest reasons we need to be sharing our faith. Let me give you an example having nothing to do with Christianity. A Ferrari just sold up in Monterey at the REM auction for $25 million now, if I were put a spotlight on you and say, I want you to tell me, why did that Ferrari sell for $25 million with a lot of people watching you, you’d be under suppression. You would be very uncomfortable with that situation and that question, because you wouldn’t know how to answer it. But if I were to tell you, you know what that Ferrari goes all the way back to 1967 was built in 1960 only had one owner. It’s a very rare car. This is a car that Steve McQueen drove in The Thomas Crown Affair, and all the proceeds from that sale were given to charity. I mean, that’s a big story. Now you know that? I bet you will go from this video and you’ll tell so you know a Ferrari sold for $25 million up in Monterey, California, because there’s a one owner car. It’s a rare Ferrari they’re going to give the guy that sold it is going to have all the money to share it. Now you want to share it. So the sad fact is that most Christians are uncomfortable sharing their faith because they don’t understand their faith clearly enough. Okay? Now, if you fall in that category, I have really good news for you, and it’s fun news. Start sharing your faith. Go out and love on people, and let them ask you the tough questions. And when they do and they ask you the question you can’t answer, just tell them, I don’t know the answer. I wish I knew the answer, but I don’t know the answer. Be transparent with them, but tell them this. You know what? I know God has the answer, even though I don’t. How about you give me a few days? Why don’t you give me till next Thursday? Okay? And between now and next Thursday, I am going to pray for you, and I’m going to read the Word and search the Scriptures, and I know by next Thursday, God will have a word for you to give you great encouragement. I have to tell you, if you do that, I have never, never, never been turned down. People are not going to turn you down when you are you’re offering to pray for them for the next few days and seek scripture to help them when they’re hurting, they want, they want, they want answers. How many times I sat in a public place and found somebody sorry, I said, Do you mind if I just pray for you right here with people walking around if they’re hurting, they don’t care. They’re beyond being embarrassed. They just, they just want to know. So here’s the deal, you tell Bob, okay, Bob, let’s get together next Thursday. Okay? And he says, Okay, guess what happens between now and next Thursday? For the first time in your life, perhaps Bible reading takes on a whole new set of meaning. Nobody’s going to tell you to get on your knees and seek God. Nobody’s going to have to tell you to get in the Word. In fact, the word’s not going to be enough. You’re going to be looking at that concordance in the back and probably say, you know, I better get a bigger concordance. I better go, go out and get a strong concordance, a great, big one, so I can start studying. Now, all of a sudden, you’re, you’re, you’re looking for like treasures. You’re digging for it and finding out, and you’re learning. And guess what? Over those next few days, you will have a growth, growth spurt. You will not believe. I mean, that’s the exciting part. And then you write it down, and then you meet with Bob on Thursday, and you share the Word of God with them, and you pray with them, and you see the look on their face, and most of the time, tears. And their thing is you cared enough to share your faith with them and to find these kernels, and they’re inspired. It’s the word of God. It’s more than just your words. We can comfort people, but the Word of God comes like a two-edged sword right to the point of their need. And when you get involved in that process, it changes everything. And not only will it thrill them and bring them closer to God, or bring you closer to God. And so those tough questions, don’t be afraid of them. Embrace them. Don’t be afraid and don’t be embarrassed. And don’t say, you know well, and don’t give them an answer you don’t understand. Just say, Hey, let me look it up. Let me go study and bring it back to you, and that will enrich your Bible, say and make an experience like you never had before.
